Come experience hot air balloon wonder at our annual Festival. Included with your Festival admission there is three ways to get up close and personal with a hot air balloon.  Observe a breath taking sunrise balloon launch, take a free morning tethered balloon ride or experience an amazing evening hot air balloon glow.
*SUNRISE MORNING BALLOON LAUNCHES (Beginning at approx. 6:30am)
LOCATION: Wine Stage & Main Stage
Marvel at the sight of 40 - 50 hot air balloons floating effortlessly over the Temecula Valley wine country in Southern California. There is nothing like watching these gentle giants go from a colorful piece of fabric to a glorious hot air balloon. All launches occur at sunrise on Saturday & Sunday morning when the winds are calm and the air is stable for safe flight. Gates open at 6:00am. Don't be late as the balloons will land by 8:30am.
*MORNING BALLOON TETHER (Beginning at approx. 7:30am)
After the morning launch several hot air balloons will set up in the wine stage area for FREE tethered balloon rides. A tethered balloon ride is when the balloon is attached to the ground with ropes. The balloon then ascends 50 - 75 feet giving an amazing view of the Festival grounds. This is a great introductory balloon flight! Balloon tethers will operate for approximately 2 hours on Saturday & Sunday mornings. Lines can be long, so arrive early!
*EVENING BALLOON GLOW (Beginning at approx. 8:00pm)
LOCATION: Wine Stage
If an early morning Festival arrival is not your thing, join us after the sun sets for a spectacular night time show as hot air balloons light up the evening sky. The balloon glow is a Festival favorite! The glow begins after sunset on Friday & Saturday evenings when the winds calm. The balloons will inflate and ignite their burners in a magical dance. Bring your chair and family, this is a MUST see!
How high does a balloon go? Average flight altitude is from tree top level to 3000 feet. The flight plan depends upon wind velocity, direction and the passenger's desires.
What fuel does the balloon use? The balloon is fueled by propane, which burns clean and is easy to obtain
How does a hot air balloon fly? Balloon operate through the basic principles of gravity and heat transfer.  As air inside the balloon is heated, it rises.  As the air inside the balloon cools, it desends.  To make the balloon fly, an inflator fan fills it with air, which is then heated.
How fast do balloons fly? A balloon is carried by the wind, and thus moves at the speed of the winds.
Can you steer a balloon? Winds determine a balloon's direction. Balloonists can steer a balloon to a limited extent, by adjusting the balloon's altitude to make use of different wind speeds and directions.
